Organon of Medicine by Samuel Hahnemann laid out the doctrine of his ideas of Homeopathy. The subject deals with the philosophy and laws of homoeopathy & instructions on how to practice Homoeopathy by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann and other pioneers of Homoeopathy

Department of Homoeopathic Materia Medica

Homoeopathic Materia Medica is a subject involving the therapeutic properties of each drug. These properties are ascertained through proving also known as Homoeopathic Pathogenic trials.

Homoeopathic Pharmacy is the subject which deals with the principles and techniques which deals with the identification, collection, and preparation of homoeopathic medicines and proving the same.

Department of Human Anatomy

Anatomy, a field in the medical sciences concerned with the identification and description of the body structures of living things. Gross anatomy involves the study of major body structures by dissection and observation concerned only with the human body.

Department of Human Physiology

Human Physiology is the study that seeks to understand the mechanisms that work to keep the human body alive and functioning, through scientific enquiry into the nature of mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of humans, their organs, and the cells of which they are composed.

Department of Pathology

Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues (biopsy samples), bodily fluids, and in some cases the whole body (autopsy).

Forensic medicine: The branch of medicine dealing with the application of medical knowledge to establish facts in civil or criminal legal cases, such as an investigation into the cause and time of a suspicious death.

Department of Surgery

Surgery is a medical specialty that uses operative manual and instrumental techniques on a patient to investigate or treat a pathological condition such as a disease or injury, to help improve bodily function or appearance or to repair unwanted ruptured areas. In the system of homoeopathy the study of surgery and surgical conditions / procedures forms a vital subject as to identify understand and treat the surgical conditions which falls under the scope of homoeopathy and refer those which don’t.

Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics

Obstetrics and gynecology (commonly abbreviated as OB-GYN, OBG or O&G in US English, and as obs and gyn in British English) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive systems – vagina, uterus, and ovaries).

About the Course

What Does Your Ward Study To Become A ‘Qualified’ Homoeopath?

According to WHO Homoeopathy is the second largest system of medicine used worldwide and this system of medicine is recognised and promoted by all prominent world bodies, governments, faculties & organisations.

In order to become a QUALIFIED Homoeopath one has to study an under graduate course – Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) and can then pursue higher studies – Doctor of Medicine In Homoeopathy [MD (Hom)] & Doctor of  Philosophy In Homoeopathy [Ph.D (Hom)]. Other additional Post graduate courses such as Public health, M.Sc in Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology, Epidemiology, Clinical Research, Forensic medicine & toxicology and Medical Biochemistry etc.

Bachelor Of Homoeopathic Medicine And Surgery (BHMS)

BHMS is a degree course which comprises of 5 and ½ years and the study comprise of the basic medical science subjects which are “in par with the main stream medicine or Allopathy” along with the homoeopathic subjects. This course also has a one year of CRRI (internship) included in the 5 and ½ year of the study course.

The Subjects Taught Year Wise are:

I BHMS – Anatomy, Physiology, Homoeopathic Pharmacy, Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Organon of Medicine and Case Taking & Repertorisation.

II BHMS – Pathology including Microbiology & Parasitology, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Organon of Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Case Taking & Repertorisation and Practice of Medicine.

III BHMS – Surgery including Orthopaedics, ENT & Ophthalmology along with clinical training, Gynaecology & Obstetrics along with clinical training, Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Organon of Medicine, Practice of Medicine, Case Taking & Repertorisation and Community Medicine.

IV BHMS – Practice of Medicine including Paediatrics & Psychiatry along with clinical training, Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Organon of Medicine, Case Taking & Repertorisation and Community Medicine.

CRRI – Our Interns are posted in different OPDs & IPDs for clinical trainings. They are also posted in the following Government Hospital & Multi Speciality Hospital on rotation basis.

  • Central Council of Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) Unit, NIEPMD Campus, East Coast Road, Muttukadu, Chennai under the Ministry of AYUSH.
  • JV Hospital, Kodambakkam, Chennai.
  • Kasthuri Hospital, Tambaram, Chennai.

Homoeopathic doctors who complete the prescribed course successfully are qualified and eligible in all aspect to handle and treat patients with diseases which fall under the scope of homoeopathy and to perform the needed INVESTIGATIONS & EXAMINATIONS required. They are also eligible and qualified to do MINOR SURGERIES like excision, incision and drainage, suturing, dressings etc as like any other doctors of the mainstream medicine or Allopathy.

“Sri Sai Ram Homoeopathy Medical College conducted it’s 18th Induction Day 2018 on Thursday the 6th December 2018 at VRR Hall – Shree Leo Muthu Indoor Stadium. Dr. P. Cheramannan – B.H.M.S, M.D, M.Sc (Psychology), gave the welcome address and Dr. R. Vijay Anand – B.H.M.S, M.D, M.Sc (Psychology) M. Phil (Psychology) – Professional Counselor for Sri Sai Ram Institutions gave the presidential address and gave counselling for freshers to prepare them for the life ahead in the campus and in the hostel.”
